Guest Ales Coming This Week - Delivery of 8th February 2012


Every week running in addition to the normal 5 B&T beers we have various guest beers on another 5 handpumps (plus two others containing Cider and Perry). These beers are constantly changing.

Plenty of lovely ales this week in the cellar, something to suit everyone's taste from the lovers of big, bold dark ales to admirers of the lighter, well hopped variety.

Some ales in the cellar and on the pumps now are:


Burton on Trent based brewers Burton Bridge Brewery

Horizontal Hold 4.5% - 'Seasonal brew in commoration of John Logie Baird, light gold with ligering bitter after taste.'


Golden Delicious 3.8% -
'Pale straw coloured dry bitter with Challenger and Styrian hops.'

Porter 4.5% - 'Fruity dark brown porter with distinctive bitter after taste.'

Double Eagle 4.0% - no notes


West Sussex ale from Dark Star

Hophead 3.8% - An extremely clean-drinking pale golden ale with a strong floral aroma and elderflower notes from the Cascade hops. This beer is full-bodied and full-flavoured yet gentle enough to make it a favourite session beer.

Partridge 4.0% - 'A Best Bitter brewed in a traditional Sussex style using Maris Otter, Crystal and Chocolate malts with East Kent Golding hops.


Original 5.0% - 'A dark, strong and bitter beer that defies classification. It has a complex malt flavour with a hint of burnt flavour from the mixture of Crystal and Chocolate grist'


Smoked Porter 5.4% -
'A smooth dark beer with a mixture of soft hop varieties and a hint of smoked malt.'

Needles Eye 3.5% - 'Mid brown session bitter.'

Hoppit Bitter 3.5% - 'Highly hopped, session bitter.'

Hampshire ales from Triple fff brewery 


Pressed rat & warthog 3.8% - 'Ruby coloured, roast malt aroma with hints of blackcurrant and plum leads to a soft yet full roast flavour, fruit and malt vying with the rounded hoppy bittersweet finish.'


Devonian ale from Plymouth's only brewery Summerskills

Cellar Vie 3.7% - 'Mid brown in colour, full of crystal malt and hop flavours, malty taste with a hint of malt and hops aromas.

Indiana's Bones 5.6% - 'A rich dark winter warmer, soft chocolate in the mouth with characteristic Goldings aromas.'

Tamar 4.3% - 'A secondary hopped Best Bitter, giving a pronounced hop taste and aroma. Mid Brown.'

Minotaur 3.3% - 'A rich dark mild with bags of character from the lavish use of chocolate malt.'

Nike 4.7% - 'Ruby Ale. A delicate balance between maltiness and hops makes this dark ruby ale a distinctive and quaffable pint.'

Saturnalia 5.3% - 'Citrus and floral aromas, pale gold, light, sweet and hoppy bitter.'

Iceberg 4.1% - 'A combination of Maris Otter pale malt and fine wheat malt, give this refreshing beer real zest. Add refreshing Yakima Galena and Cascade hops and what you get is a fantastic wheat beer that will hole any passing thirst.'

First class 3.8% - 'Golden brown beer, hoppy yet balanced.'

Plum porter 4.9% - 'This beer is dark strong and well rounded; the richness of such a rotund beer is brought to an even keel by the late addition of Goldings hops and natural plum flavouring.'

Life boat 4.0% - 'Fruity and malty,red brown bittersweet beer. It has a serene caramel character and the finish is dry and fruity.'

Steerage 3.5% -'Refreshing clean drinking, hoppy golden bitter.'

Two Brewers 3.6% - Hoppy amber brown session beer. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt and Cascade Hops.

Shefford Bitter 3.8% - A pleasant and well hopped session beer. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Challenger Hops, Golding Hops and Fuggle Hops.

Edwin Taylors Extra Stout 4.5% - A pleasant bitter beer with a strong roast malt flavour. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Roast Barley and Hercules Hops.

Black Dragon Mild 4.3% - A Strong Dark mild with pronounced roast flavours. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Black Malt, Roast Barley and Wheat Malt. Hopped with Golding Hops.

Shefford Mild 3.8% - A dark beer with a well balanced, roast malt taste taste. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Caramel, Challenger Hops, Golding Hops and Fuggle Hops.

Shefford Old Dark (S.O.D) 5.0% - A rich, fruity flavoured dark beer with caramel flavours. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Caramel and Cascade Hops.

Shefford Old Strong (S.O.S.) 5.0% - A rich taste of fruit, hops and malt with a predominantly hoppy aroma.This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt and Cascade Hops. 

Dragonslayer 4.5% - A straw coloured beer, dry, malty and lightly hopped. Originally brewed for St George's Day. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Golding Hops.

Golden Fox 4.1% - Golden refreshing beer with fruity overtones. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Amber Malt, Golding Hops and Cascade Hops

Fruit Bat 4.5% - A straw coloured beer, malty and fruity, lightly hopped and tasting of Raspberries. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Golding Hops.

Shefford Pale Ale 4.5% - A well balanced beer, with hops, fruit and malt flavours. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Fuggle Hops and Golding Hops.

Goalden Hatter 4.0% - A Blond, hoppy dry tasting light coloured bitter infused with Styrian Golden hops. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt and Styrian Golding Hops.
