Guest Ales Coming This Week - 28th July 2010

Every week in addition to the normal 5 B&T beers we have various guest beers on another 5 handpumps (plus two others containing Cider and Perry!). These beers are constantly changing. Some that are in the cellar and due up this week are:

Milestone – Missy Sippy 5.5% A well balanced, light golden and full bodied ale.

Skinners – Spriggan Ale 3.8%
A light golden, hoppy bitter with a smooth finish.

Skinners – Betty Stoggs 4.0% Pale amber bitter with distinct hoppy overtones.

Castle Rock – Yew 5.0% An unrefined German style wheat beer.

RCH – PG Steam 3.9% Complex ale with floral hop aromas and a bitter taste with some fruit and sweetness.

RCH – Festival 4.5% Description N/A.

Oakleaf – Some Are Drinking 3.9% Brand new, light summer ale. 

Loddon – Bamboozle 4.8% A strong, heavily hopped golden ale.

Saltaire – Summer Ale 4.2% A light and refreshing golden ale.

Nottingham – Robin Hood 3.9% A well balanced beer with a hoppy finish.

Nottingham – Legend 4.0% Traditional amber session ale with a flavoursome malt character and hoppy finish.

Nottingham – EPA 4.2% A light coloured, well balanced ale with a lightly fragrant hop finish.

Nottingham – Dreadnought 4.5% Rich ruby bitter with a well rounded fullness of malt and hoppy bitterness.

Northern – What Is It? 3.7% A copper session bitter with hints of caramel.

 

Banks & Taylors

Banks & Taylors are commited to crafting the finest ales and beers using the best ingredients available.

Winners of many awards for their real ales and special brews Banks & Taylors are based in Shefford near Bedford.

The Regulars

There are normally 5 B&T Beers on the pumps, which are ausually:

Dunstable Giant 4.4% - Brewed in memory of The Globe landlord Mel Hall.

Shefford Bitter 3.8% - A pleasant and well hopped session beer.

Shefford Black Dragon Mild 4.3% - A dark beer with a strong well balanced, roast malt taste taste. Winner of Mild of Great Britain 2007.

Edwin Taylor's Extra Stout 4.5% - A pleasant bitter beer with a strong roast malt flavour - Good Beer Guide 'Best of the Year' for the last 3 years. Winner of the East Anglian 'Beer of the Year' 2001.

Two Brewers Bitter 3.6% - Hoppy amber brown session beer

Another permenant feature on the pumps is:

Everards Tiger  4.2% - 
Tiger Best Bitter is a classic example of getting the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. Crystal malt gives the beer its rounded toffee character.

Others that appear now and again are:

Shefford Dark Mild 3.8% - A dark beer with a well balanced, roast malt taste taste.

Shefford Dragon Slayer 4.5% - A straw coloured beer, dry, malty and lightly hopped.
Originally brewed for St George's Day.

Shefford Pale Ale (SPA) 4.5% - A well balanced beer, with hops, fruit and malt flavours.

Goalden Hatter 4.0% - A Blond, hoppy dry tasting light coloured bitter infused with Styrian Golden hops.

Shefford Old Strong (SOS) 5% - A rich taste of fruit, hops and malt with a predominantly hoppy aroma.

Shefford Old Dark (SOD) 5% - A rich, fruity flavoured dark beer with caramel flavours.

January

Bedfordshire Clanger 3.8% - Dry clean tasting beer double hopped to taste like beer used to.

Crooked Hooker 4.7% - Brewed to celebrate the inaugural Six Nations Rugby Championships. This scummy beer has a brilliant balance of malt and hops.

Banks & Taylor – Two Grandads 5.5% A yellow bitter beer with pronounced fruity overtones. Brewed to celebrate B&T’s first granddaughters.

Febuary

Dragon's Gold 5.5% - A powerful golden beer with a fruity finished balanced with a hoppy finish.This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Bramling Cross hops and Cascade Hops.

Golden Fox 4.1% - Golden refreshing beer with fruity overtones. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Amber Malt, Golding Hops and Cascade Hops.

Crooked Hooker 4.7% - Brewed to celebrate the inaugural Six Nations Rugby Championships. This scrummy beer has a brilliant balance of malt and hops.

March

Oxford Rebellion 5.0% - Reddish coloured nectar with hoppy overtones on a malt finish.

Madhatter Ale 4.2% - Brewed to celebrate the hat making tradition of Luton Malty, copper coloured beer with a hoppy nose.

April

Tinker 4.5% - Brewed to celebrate Bedford's' most famous son - John Bunyan - This amber brown ale has a full body and a subtle hop finish.

Eastcote Ale 4.1% - Golden ale brewed with a very bitter finish. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt and Mount Hood Hops.

May

R101 4.7% - Brewed to commemorate the last flight of the R101 airship which crashed in France in 1930. This hoppy blonde coloured beer has a malty dry finish.

Goldleaf 4.4% - A hoppy thirst quenching golden bitter. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt and Cascade Hops.

James Cameron's 4.5% - A dark brown, malty, bitter sweet beer, with plenty of body and a pleasant bitter aftertaste. This Beer is brewed using Vienna Pale Malt, Black Malt and Fuggle Hops.

June

Born Free 4.0% - Brewed to commemorate the the work done at Whipsnade wild animal park.

Shefford XXIII 4.4% - Brewed for our 23rd birthday. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Black Malt and Bramling Cross Hops.

July

Midsummer 3.5% - A straw coloured quaffing ale for the hot (?) summer weather. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt. Golding and Cascade hops.

Glider 4.8% - Dunstable Downs is 782 ft high affording a chance for brave men of the flying age to rise on the wind and glide where it will carry them. A beer to celebrate their daring which is a full bodied and hoppy golden ale. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Cascade Hops.

August

Shefford Wheat Beer 5.0% - Brewed with 50/50 pale and wheat malts to give a sharp and refreshing beer. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt and surprise, surprise Wheat Malt and Cascade Hops.

In The Mood 4.8% - Brewed to remember the tragic disappearance of Glen Miller whose music puts you "in the mood" for a superb summer ale, fruity and spicy with a mixture of English malt and American Cascade hops. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Amber Malt, Challenger Hops and Cascade Hops.

September

Barley Mow 3.8% - Refreshing dry bitter beer with a good hop aroma. Just right to quench your thirst. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Cascade Hops.

Hop Blossom 5.0% - This golden beer contains plenty of the blossom of the hop! This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Cascade Hops.

October

Aragon 4.7% - Brewed to remember Catherine (the tragic queen, wife of Henry VIII) passing through Ampthill on her last journey. A beautiful tangy citrus beer with a lingering bitter finish. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Roast Barley and Fuggle Hops.

Phantom Thirst 4.5% - A nicely hopped Blond bitter with a fruity after taste. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Cascade Hops.

Bodysnatcher 4.5% - A malty, bitter sweet beer, with plenty of body and a pleasant bitter aftertaste.. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Fuggle Hops.

November

Prince Henry 4.5% - Beer brewed to celebrate the original production of the "Prince Henry" car by Vauxhall motors. A golden bitter, richly hopped with fruity undertones. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Wheat Malt, Amber Malt, Roast Barley and Cascade Hops.

18 Down 4.2% - Brewed to commemorate the "downing" of 18 brick chimneys from the famous brick works at Kempston Hardwick. This beer is a rich amber brown colour with a rich powerful hop aroma. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt and Fuggle Hops.

December

Turkey's Trauma 4.3% - Quaffable amber coloured malty beer with a bitter finish. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Amber Malts, Challenger Hop and Golding Hops.

Hoppy Turkey 5.0% - Amber coloured ale, hoppy and malty with a strong citrus finish. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt and Cascade Hops.

Santa's Slayer 4.0% - A refreshing amber beer with a fruity aroma and a sweetish malty palate. Its over-lying bitterness makes it an excellent quaffing bitter for the festive season. This Beer is brewed using Pearl Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, Wheat Malt, Challenger Hops and Golding Hops.
